About

The Elderberries Choir is a community choir based in Gravenhurst, Ontario.

The over 50 members enjoy music and love to sing. They have provided concerts during the Christmas season and in late spring since 1991. 2016-17 marked their 25th year celebration. This was followed in 2023 with a 30th Anniversary Concert held in the historic Gravenhurst Opera House to a sold-out audience.

The Elderberries perform a varied repertoire in a variety of venues. They are regularly welcomed at Retirement Homes and Nursing Homes.

Anyone who enjoys singing may join 'The Elderberries'. Most members are retired people, but people of any age who would like to join are welcome. There are no auditions; you don't have to be able to read music or play an instrument.
You can come and sing for a few practices, until you decide whether or not you would like to join.

Leadership:

Our music director is Louise Jardine. Before moving to Washago, Louise served as choral conductor for the Etobicoke Youth Choir and music director for the Children and Youth Choirs of Kingsway-Lambton United Church. She states: "Community is very important to me. Throughout my life, I have worked in the public school system, my church and local youth choirs to build community through music. Music brings people together, lifts spirits and creates personal well-being. I strive to help each singer develop to the best of their ability to experience the joy of making beautiful music together."

Accompanist:

Carolyn Grant also accompanies the OPP Chorus and plays at a number of churches in the Orillia area.
