Latest News - Giving From the Heart of Song

Joan Verhey sang in the soprano section of the Elderberries. It was her favourite activity in her senior years. To spend quality time with mom, her daughter Valerie Verhey, joined two years ago.
It so just happened, that Joan passed away suddenly and peacefully one evening last spring. The Elderberries attended the funeral to perform a hymn with Valerie front and centre.
This started a snowball effect of giving in song from the heart. It goes like this...
Valerie decided that she would gift the Elderberries $300.00 for the purchase of a song in memory of her mother. She wanted Louise, the director, to purchase a song of her own choice to be performed by the choir at a future concert in Joan's name.
We pay a similar price for the rights to every song we purchase to perform.
Valerie has given us a wonderful way to cover costs and still apply it in a very meaningful way.
This Idea, like every good idea, had a snowball effect, meaning, others came forward, without prompting, to donate in the same way. Very grateful for this brilliant idea.
We thank you for supporting the Elderberries Choir through faithful attendance to our concerts,
advertising in our printed programs, and perhaps, in future, the purchase of a song in honour of a loved one.
Sincerely,
Lynda Valcourt
